Asia Square Grand Opening Ceremony sets a new milestone for Singapore's new downtown |
8 November 2011 - Asia Square celebrates its grand opening ceremony today, setting a new milestone for the new financial district at Marina Bay and revolutionising the concept of commercial developments in Singapore.
Officiating the ceremony as the guest-of-honor was Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. Showing his support for Asia Square’s vision and concept, Mr. Goh highlighted Singapore’s need to work together to ensure a consistent drive of our attractiveness as an investment hub, and to constantly redefine what a world-class financial hub means.
Fulfilling the vision of the MarinaBay new downtown, Asia Square’s developers have brought the concept to life by introducing new innovations to raise the bar of what a world-class development means. With plans for the commercial development starting as far back as 2007, Asia Square’s meticulous conceptualization and conscientious design execution has brought to fruition a top-notch working environment for its occupants. The development is built with outstanding technology and innovation that not only propels Asia Square to become one of the most technologically-advanced buildings in the region; but has also led Asia Square to clinch a slew of awards for its design, quality and sustainability features. Since conception, Asia Square has already won several industry accolades for its design, quality and sustainability features, including the Platinum Green Mark Award and the US-LEED (Core & Shell) Platinum pre-certification, highest honours for sustainability, as well as achieving the highest-ever CONQUAS (Construction Quality Assessment System) score of 94.7 points for a high-rise commercial building. In addition, Asia Square has clinched the award for the Best Mixed-Use Development and Highly Commended in the Office Development category at the 2011 Asia Pacific Property Awards. Spanning 35,000 sqft, Asia Square’s floor plate is the largest and most efficient in Singapore. The regular shaped, column-free floor plate is constructed without any odd corners to ensure that every inch of space is fully usable and maximised by its occupants. With its massive floor plate size, each floor in Asia Square Tower 1 can comfortably house a total of 450 executives, and is one of the key reasons that it has attracted global leading companies from the financial, legal and insurance industries to set up their regional headquarters. In addition to its extensive Grade A office space, Asia Square boasts an impressive 100,000-square-foot landscaped plaza called The Cube, aimed at providing a relaxation and recreational space. The development also houses the first-ever urban oasis within the city with its 600-seater garden themed FoodGarden, and Singapore’s largest fitness centre. When Asia Square Tower 2 opens in 2013, the building will be the first development in the New Downtown integrating a 305-room five star Westin Hotel. These first-class amenities are all specially designed and conceptualised to fulfill each of the four elements in Asia Square’s Work, Play, Live Grow concept. "The vision and commitment of Asia Square is to bring this to life our concept of Work-Play-Live-Grow. With our guiding thought of what is better for humans is better for business, we were challenged to think differently about our infrastructure and our technologies. Today, I am both pleased and proud to say that Asia Square has successfully brought to life its Work-Play-Live-Grow concept through a world-class office environment with Grade A office space and premium facilities," said Mr. James Quille, Executive Chairman, MGPA. Asia Square’s philosophy has in fact garnered some of the tops names in the banking and technology industry including Citibank, Bank Sarasin, White & Case and Google. Asia Square is the first commercial development in the world to house its very own bio-diesel plant within its vicinity. Underscoring Asia Square’s commitment to sustainability, bio-waste collected from Asia Square is channeled to its on-site bio-diesel plant to be recycled into bio-diesel. In the same way that most businesses thrive on having the right talent, our guiding thought was that what is better for humans is better for business. With an impressive tenant list that reflects Asia Square’s success in creating the optimal work environment, Asia Square’s extensive list of tenants covers the top names from each industry. Citibank, Bank Sarasin, White & Case and Google are just some of the long list of tenants that highlight Asia Square’s triumph in creating a world-class offering. |
